I returned to the Mission Valley park for one last session. I was a little spent after last night’s marathon, but I was able to spend a couple hours riding before my flight.
Finally, no one was on the big half pipe, so I got to work on my drop-ins. Keeping a crouch up the wall helped me keep control and maintain speed, so that was a great tip from OMA.
I also battled out lots of runs on the mini-ramp spine, dropping in as soon as a scooter kid landed on the platform. Had some good 50-50 spine transfers, smith grinds, even a couple 180 disasters. Not bad!
And now, back to Utah.

I returned to Mission Valley in Clairemont for a serious 3.5 hour session. I rode the bowl with a bunch of OMA-worthy locals, worked on 50-50s on the wooden bowl, and tried to cope with the brilliances of the mini ramp.
More tomorrow!

I found my way to the Mission Valley skate park–an easy 20 min ride by bus from downtown San Diego–and gave it a good two hours of attention. They have a great, but slick bowl that I’m starting to get some lines on, and a fabulous new mini ramp with spine that is the center of attention for scooters and bikers. The 6′ wood bowl is still there, but needs some fixing.
I’ll be going back tomorrow, with hope to skate the big XGames half pipe.

After wandering around Coronado for an hour I found the Coronado skatepark just south of San Diego. I had only 45 minutes to test out the bowls, which were very fun and creative, before darkness killed the session.
