It was a lovely night skating, cold and dark, and I’ve found a new local street spot that will help keep me away from ankle-ravaging, knee-twisting, head-bonking skate parks for a while. Full, spreading parking lots, long islands of sidewalks, a few steps, a couple benches, and well-lit at night. It’s a State-owned property and right across from a busy grocery store, so I’m hoping Springville cops are friendly.

I overdid it Labor Day weekend, strained some muscles in my groin, strained one ankle, twisted one knee, a 2-month-old sprained wrist, and several bangs on shins that just won’t heal.
Grumble.
At least my ribs feel better.
On a related note, I discovered some extensive ankle exercises, which I’m going to try to incorporate into a morning routine.
This has been a great summer for skating. No spectacular trips. No crazy tricks. Just a consistent series of fun sessions at Utah skate parks and fav local spots.
Yesterday I made an impromptu trip North and hit the Logan Skatepark with my brother Aron. We spent a couple of solid hours trying to keep it together in the shadows of the younger rippers. Half way through my parents showed up with our little sister and new brother-in-law. They hung around for a long time watching, snapping photos, and just being cool. Here are a few snaps my sis Adrea took of me reliving the freestyle days:
