Spotting in Springville

It was a lovely night skating, cold and dark, and I’ve found a new local street spot that will help keep me away from ankle-ravaging, knee-twisting, head-bonking skate parks for a while. Full, spreading parking lots, long islands of sidewalks, a few steps, a couple benches, and well-lit at night. It’s a State-owned property and right across from a busy grocery store, so I’m hoping Springville cops are friendly.

Discovered this video clip through Tea and Whizz, but had to repost it here as this is what street skating is all about…

In this balls-to-the-walls assault Jason proves NO terrain is unskateable.

Fine retro skills! This was probably about the time they started hating on Mullen and calling him “The Robot”.

A few extra shots taken by my mother who came out to check out her 30+ sons reliving some glory days at the Logan Skatepark:

I overdid it Labor Day weekend, strained some muscles in my groin, strained one ankle, twisted one knee, a 2-month-old sprained wrist, and several bangs on shins that just won’t heal.

Grumble.

At least my ribs feel better.

On a related note, I discovered some extensive ankle exercises, which I’m going to try to incorporate into a morning routine.

Summer ’09

This has been a great summer for skating. No spectacular trips. No crazy tricks. Just a consistent series of fun sessions at Utah skate parks and fav local spots.

Yesterday I made an impromptu trip North and hit the Logan Skatepark with my brother Aron. We spent a couple of solid hours trying to keep it together in the shadows of the younger rippers. Half way through my parents showed up with our little sister and new brother-in-law. They hung around for a long time watching, snapping photos, and just being cool. Here are a few snaps my sis Adrea took of me reliving the freestyle days:

I can’t wait to get out again.
